The supreme body of the International Union of Economists (IUE) is the General Meeting of the IUE members (the IUE General Meeting).
In accordance with the IUE Charter, the General Meeting of the International Union of Economists members is held every five years. The decision to convene the next IUE General Meeting and its agenda is taken by the IUE Presidium.
At the venues of the IUE General Meeting – one of the key events held by the International Union of Economists – issues of the economic development of Russia and the world are discussed. Among the main topics of the discussions are the opportunities for the growth and structural and technological restructuring of the Russian economy, key global trends in the environment, economics, demography and technology; trends, priorities, and tools of monetary, financial, economic and social policy and their impact on the prospects for sustainable development in Russia and globally.
The IUE General Meeting has been held since 1992 in different countries of the world – in Russia, US, Spain, France, Israel, Australia, Croatia, Jordan, Mexico, China, Brazil, Norway, New Zealand, South Africa, Indonesia, Cuba, Cyprus, and other countries.
2021 marked the 30th anniversary of the International Union of Economists. During the anniversary year, an extensive program of events dedicated to the IUE’s 30th anniversary was held. UN Secretary-General António Guterres sent his greetings to the IUE. At the events dedicated to the IUE anniversary, speeches were given by the UN Deputy Secretary-Generals.
The previous IUE General Meeting was held on April 2, 2018 in St. Petersburg. The General Meeting was attended by 920 participants from Russia’s 73 regions and other countries of the world (France, Austria, Italy, Greece, China, UK, Estonia).
At the IUE Presidium meeting on December 27, 2022, it was decided to hold the next IUE General Meeting on March 31, 2023 at Taurida Palace, Shpalernaya 47, St. Petersburg, Russia. The provisional agenda of the IUE General Meeting was approved.
As a traditional scientific part of the IUE General Meeting, the St. Petersburg International Economic Congress (SPEC-2023) will be held. The scientific and expert discussion will be devoted to the priority issues of technological and socio-economic development of Russia in the context of global transformations.
The IUE General Meeting will be attended by the members of the International Union of Economists, delegates of the VEO of Russia Congress, leading scientists and experts from Russia and other countries, representatives of the federal legislative and executive authorities of the Russian Federation, regional authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, representatives of the educational community of Russia, business community, international and Russian public organizations.
