International Union of Economists (IUE) was established in 1991 to promote global economic and social progress. Presently, the IUE brings together representatives from 48 countries around the world — prominent economists, practitioners, scientists, government officials and public figures, representatives of the business community, national and regional unions and associations of economists.
In 1999, the IUE was awarded the General Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC), recently renewed and extended in March 2021.
Currently, only 142 international non-governmental organizations globally hold this high status. The International Union of Economists is also associated with the UN Department of Global Communications.
IUE is authorized to use the venues of the UN Economic and Social Council for making speeches at the UN General Assembly. In addition, over many years, representatives of the International Union of Economists have been part of the official Russian delegation to the UN General Assembly.
Over the past 30 years, the IUE has identified optimal and effective expert involvement formats that have allowed it to become an open and independent intellectual platform for economists from around the world.
The General Consultative Status with the UN ECOSOC allows the IUE to broadcast recommendations on addressing any pressing challenges from the rostrum of the UN and other authoritative international organizations. Thanks to this status, the IUE participates in the dissemination of the UN’s analysis findings.
IUE has been selected to host the presentations of the annual World Economic Situation and Prospects Report (DESA, United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs) and the annual Trade and Development Report (UNCTAD, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development). Presentations of these reports, which are among the most authoritative UN publications, are held annually on a single day in all world capitals.
IUE is a co-organizer of a major permanent international economic forum — the Moscow Academic Economic Forum, an intellectual platform that brings together Russian and global experts and scientists. 8497 professionals from 32 countries took part in MAEF-2021.
One of the key events organized by the International Union of Economists is its Member Conference. The Conference has been held since 1992 in different countries of the world, including the US, Spain, France, Israel, Australia, Croatia, Jordan, Mexico, China, Brazil, Norway, New Zealand, South Africa, Indonesia, Cuba, Cyprus, etc.
The International Union of Economists on an ongoing basis cooperates with the UN Economic and Social Council, the UN Department of Global Communications, UNCTAD, UNESCO, HABITAT, UN Information Centers around the world, the Russian United Nations Assistance Association, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, the Russian Federal Agency for International Cooperation, the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, the Russian Association for International Cooperation (RAMS), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, foreign embassies in the Russian Federation, the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Russian NGO Business Russia, the Russian NGO of Small and Medium-Sized Businesses Opora Rossii, national and international organizations, leading universities in Russia and abroad.

In 2021, the International Union of Economists turns 30. A rich program of events dedicated to the IUE’s 30th anniversary is scheduled for the entire year. The main event of the program is the Russian Economic Conference dedicated to the official Economist Day and the 30th anniversary of the International Union of Economists. The Conference is titled: Challenges of the Future: Individual and Society Towards Sustainable Socio-Economic Development.
Russian Economic Conference is the central event of the national program of events organized by the Free Economic Society of Russia and the International Union of Economists, including the Russian national public award Economist of the Year and the public award Economics Book of the Year, the Russian national Economic Quiz, Russian and international conferences, expert sessions in Moscow and Russia’s regions, and many others events dedicated to the celebration of the International Economist Day and the 30th anniversary of the International Union of Economists.
On November 11, 2021 the Russian Economic Conference, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the International Union of Economists and the international Economist Day was held in a mixed offline and online format.
The event was broadcast from the Fireplace Hall of the Economist House on Tverskaya, where the headquarters of the conference organizers — the Free Economic Society of Russia and the International Union of Economists — are located.
Thanks to video links and digital platforms connecting Moscow with Russia’s regions, almost 5,000 professionals and experts from 72 regions of the Russian Federation and 21 countries around the world joined the Conference. Among them were the top leaders of the United Nations, representatives of the committees of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the State Duma of the Russian Federation, regional authorities, specialized departments, the Eurasian Economic Commission, the real sector of the economy, the educational community, leading scientists and experts, and public figures.
Message on the 30th Anniversary of the International Union of Econimists
I extend my best wishes on the 30th anniversary of the International Union of Economists.
Our world faces a host of challenges – the COVID-19 pandemic, the climate emergency, conflicts, poverty, and hunger. These and many other tests can only be overcome together – through effective, inclusive and networked multilateral action.
That’s is why the United Nations has launched a new initiative: Our Common Agenda. It includes more than 90 proposals to be taken forward by the United Nations, Member States, civil society, academia, the private sector and more.
We look forward to the continued engagement of the IUE to highlight sustainable development challenges, foster dialogue and find constructive solutions to help advance the shared goal of a more resilient and just future for all.
To the participants and organizers of the All-Russian Economic Meeting
I would like to welcome the participants and organizers of the All-Russian Economic Meeting dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the International Union of Economists (IUE).
Over the past decades, IUE has accumulated solid experience in understanding the structural changes in the global economy. As part of it, the highly professional research, educational and consulting structures are effectively functioning. The Union's expert contribution to the UN ECOSOC activities is widely recognized. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation appreciates their active efforts, which are promotive of international scientific cooperation.
The subject of the Meeting seems to be very relevant. Today, Russia and the entire world community are facing major challenges in overcoming the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic. Under these conditions, the systematic analytical work aimed at developing optimal models of post-COVID socio-economic progress is in particular demand.
I am confident that the Meeting will be constructive, as well as the fruitful exchange of views will facilitate the establishing of mutually beneficial contacts and, ultimately, making of operational recommendations.
I would like to wish you fruitful discussions and all the best.
I am happy to welcome the organizers, participants, and guests of the Russian Economic Conference and congratulate them on their professional holiday — the international Economist Day — and the 30th anniversary of the International Union of Economists.
In light of the present challenges and threats that the coronavirus pandemic poses to humanity, the topic of this Conference — "Future Challenges: Individuals and Society — Towards Sustainable Socio-Economic Development" — is highly relevant. Russia and the entire global community will have to find a solution to global challenges involved in overcoming the consequences of the pandemic and ensuring the recovery of the world economy.
I wish you all fruitful work, new ideas, and all the best.
Dear colleagues, Dear friends,
On behalf of the Russian Academy if Sciences, I extend my greetings to the organizers and participants of the Russian Economic Conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the International Union of Economists and the international Economist Day.
I sincerely congratulate all those present on their professional holiday — the Economist Day. The current crisis has hit national economies, and science has played a key role in the search for new socio-economic trajectories of development. Economic science was at the forefront of the search. Economists, whose professional holiday we are celebrating today, responded as quickly as they could, proposing solutions to overcome the consequences of the crisis. A great contribution to shaping expert proposals on topical issues of economic policy was made by specialized non-governmental organizations. Their role in the transformation of social and economic institutions has been significantly expanding recently.
In this regard, the special contribution by the International Union of Economists should be mentioned, which celebrated its 30th anniversary this year, to promoting social and economic progress both in Russia and globally, to the achievement of sustainable development goals, to the development of public diplomacy. It seems that scientific cooperation is of key importance for reaching agreements on global issues. It is no secret that many political decisions are preceded by a thorough scientific study of issues that have an international dimension and require a broad expert discussion. This is, in fact, one of the activity fields of the International Union of Economists.
I would like to note that the International Union of Economists and the Free Economic Society of Russia, along with the Russian Academy of Sciences, are organizers of the international Moscow Academic Economic Forum -— a major permanent intellectual platform. The Forum brings together Russian and international economists, scientists and practitioners to create roadmaps to ensure the sustainability of Russia's socio-economic development. This is an extremely important effort in the current context of economic turbulence and instability. Obviously, pandemics are here to stay. We do not know where the “black swans" will come from next time, or what kind of the so-called "jokers" — events that are unlikely, but capable of having a significant impact on the economic processes — Russia and the global community may face.
I am convinced that today, when uncertainty has become a key factor to be reckoned with, no important decision can be made without us, scientists and economists Time has demonstrated the validity of this conviction.
Dear colleagues, once again I congratulate you on your professional holiday and wish you all the best.
To the participants in VI All-Russian Economic Meeting City of Moscow, November 11, 2021
Dear colleagues!
The All-Russian Economic Meeting, this year dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the International Union of Economists, brings together representatives of academic science, government, public and business circles. Today, when the whole world is being deeply transformed, the need for such platforms, where the most significant socio-economic challenges are openly and substantively discussed, is, in my opinion, especially great.
We highly appreciate the efforts of the Free Economic Society to spread historical knowledge and the keen interest of its members in the history of economic thought and practice. I am sure that the ability to learn from the past will be useful in developing recommendations to solve the problems facing our country.
I would like to wish VI All-Russian Economic Meeting successful work and would like to congratulate its participants on their professional holiday – Economist's Day!
On behalf of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, I extend my greetings to the organizers and participants of the Russian Economic Conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the International Union of Economists and the international Economist Day.
Throughout its 30 years, the International Union of Economists has been able to find well-functioning formats that have allowed it to become an independent discussion platform for economists from all around the world. The IUE, bringing together representatives from 48 countries, successfully promotes economic reforms, ensures international exchange of knowledge, and deals with other important tasks in the economic sphere.
The traditional annual Russian Economic Conference, organized by the VEO of Russia and the International Union of Economists to wrap up the economists’ achievements of the year and to award the winners of annual public economic awards, is invariably a central event for the nation’s economics community.
This year’s Russian Economic Conference is titled “Future Challenges: Individuals and Society — Towards Sustainable Socio-Economic Development.” I am sure that the Conference will once again confirm its reputable status as a discussion platform for this important topic.
I wish the participants of the Russian Economic Conference, all members of the VEO of Russia and the International Union of Economists successful and fruitful work and new professional achievements.
To the participants and organizers of VI All-Russian Economic Meeting
On behalf of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and my own behalf, I would like to welcome the participants and guests of the VI All-Russian Economic Meeting dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the International Union of Economists.
Over the past decades, the Meeting has proven itself as an influential platform for discussing and developing common approaches to solving the economic development issues, summarizing the results of all-Russian socially significant projects and awarding public economic prizes of the year.
In today's realities, the initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of the Russian citizens, their health and well-being are more relevant than ever before. Members of the International Union of Economists, representatives of the country's leading economic universities, public and youth organizations, government officials and foreign experts make a significant contribution to the economic and social progress.
Please take my congratulations on your professional holiday – Economist's Day. I am convinced that your strong professional traditions, competence and dedication will help you continue to move forward, successfully and efficiently address critical tasks aimed at multiplying the socio-economic potential of our country.
I would like to wish you success in your work and new achievements.
To the participants and organizers of the All-Russian Economic Meeting
I would like to welcome the participants and organizers of the All-Russian Economic Meeting dedicated to the professional holiday – Economist's Day – and the 30th anniversary of the International Union of Economists.
For the last six years, the Meeting has become an influential platform that brings together experts, specialists, scientists, public figures and real economy representatives from all the regions of Russia in order to develop proposals to identify sources and ways of implementing national objectives for the long-term development of the country.
The Meeting subject − "Challenges of the future: man and society – towards sustainable socio-economic development" − is relevant and important. The coronavirus pandemic has made its own adjustments to all life spheres. Today it is important to unite efforts of the state and professional, expert, scientific, educational and business communities to make decisions important for further recovery from the pandemic and minimization of negative effects on the country's economy.
I am convinced that the work of the Meeting will make a significant contribution to the formation, expansion and reinforcement of such cooperation and the search for solutions to pressing socio-economic problems.
I would like to warmly congratulate the laureates of these awards and all Russian economists on your professional holiday!
I would like to wish good health, creative success and new achievements for the good of the Motherland!
On behalf of the State Duma Committee on Industry and Trade, I extend my greetings to the organizers and participants of the Russian Economic Conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the International Union of Economists and the international Economist Day.
The efforts by the International Union of Economists aimed at accelerating economic growth and the development of integration processes in the world’s various regions deserve high praise. IUE’s contribution to the development of the global economic theory and practice cannot be overestimated.
The recovery of the world economy, which has suffered heavy losses during the pandemic, requires overcoming serious challenges and this, of course, imposes additional responsibility on the economic community. Today, novel and non-standard solutions are required for successful development. One of the traditional and most significant platforms in Russia for discussing pressing socio-economic issues, shaping the strategy and tactics of further development is the Russian Economic Conference, organized by the Free Economic Society of Russia. Practice shows that many expert recommendations coming from the Russian professional community are taken into account when making important public policy decisions affecting the economy, including the issue of training specialists for the Russian economy.
This forum focuses on the human being. I am convinced that constructive initiatives will be formulated at the Conference aimed at improving the quality of life of Russian residents and making use of the unique technological, scientific, and human potential of this country.
I congratulate the organizers and participants of the Russian Economic Conference and all members of the Free Economic Society on the international Economist Day. I wish everyone successful and fruitful work and new achievements for the good of this country.
To the participants and organizers of the All-Russian Economic Meeting
Dear colleagues!
On behalf of the State Duma Committee for the Commonwealth of the Independent States, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots and my own behalf, I would like to welcome the participants and organizers of the All-Russian Economic Meeting dedicated to the professional holiday – Economist's Day – and the 30th anniversary of the International Union of Economists.
It is difficult to overestimate the contribution of the International Union of Economists to the promotion of social and economic progress in Russia, and to the development of public diplomacy, the role of which is steadily increasing every year due to geopolitical changes, growing tensions in international relations and the emergence of new global challenges, such as environmental and climate problems, hunger, public access to public goods.
The activities of the International Union of Economists, which are based on the principles of public diplomacy, contribute to the expansion of international cooperation in developing scientifically valid, adequate responses to these threats and making important decisions at the state and global levels.
It is should be noted that the main driver of public diplomacy is not centres and institutions, but people – economists, scientists, experts, state and public figures, educational and business communities representatives, i.e. all these ones whose professional holiday we celebrate on November 11.
I would like to cordially congratulate the nominees and laureates of the Highest Public Economic Prize "Economist of the Year – 2021". I would like to wish the laureates of the Public Prize "Economic Book of the Year-2021" further creative success!
Dear colleagues, I would like to sincerely congratulate everyone on Economist's Day and wish you fruitful work, new achievements and all the best!
Dear participants of the Russian Economic Conference,
On behalf of the State Duma Committee on Small and Medium Business, I greet and sincerely congratulate the participants and organizers of this significant social and political event.
It is a pleasure to see that the Conference has chosen such a relevant topic for discussion. Given the global economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, finding ways of sustainable socio-economic development is one of the primary and key challenges.
Let me also express my gratitude and my congratulations on the international Economist Day. In modern civil society, the profession of economist is one of the most significant and respected.
I am convinced that your work will contribute to formulating valuable proposals for the economic development of the Russian Federation.
I wish the participants and organizers of the Russian Economic Conference successful and productive work.
Attn: Prof. S.D. Bodrunov, President, International Union of Economists
Dear Dr. Bodrunov,
On behalf of the State Duma Committee for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, I extend my greetings to the organizers and participants of the Russian Economic Conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the International Union of Economists.
The International Union of Economists began its work during a challenging period of Russia’s history and has established itself as an effective, authoritative, independent, and popular platform designed to promote a constructive scientific discussion, restore and maintain economic ties with Russia’s strategic partners.
Taking this opportunity, I want also to congratulate the entire professional community on the Economist Day, celebrated on the founding day of the Free Economic Society of Russia, rich in its traditions.
The Russian Economic Conference always forms its agenda based on the most important and urgent needs of society, structuring its work in accordance with the key challenges and risks facing the harmonious development of economic relations.
I am convinced that the discussions that will take place at the Russian Economic Conference will be held in a constructive and meaningful manner and will give a new impetus to the intensification of the work on the development of international cooperation ties.
I sincerely wish you successful work and all the best.
To the President of the International Union of Economists Sergey Dmitrievich Bodrunov
Dear colleagues and friends!
I would like to warmly congratulate you on your professional holiday – Economist's Day!
I well know that this is the holiday of the representatives of one of the most prestigious and popular, complex and responsible professions.
Your professionalism is the key factor for the stable development of any enterprise and the whole country.
I am sure that the ultimate goal of the work of politicians and economists shall be the formation of a truly social state and a just society, as well as improving the standards of living for the Russian citizens.
As a member of the State Duma Committee on Science and Higher Education, I am confident in the need for enhancing the economic and financial literacy of the country's population. In this, the field-specific universities are particularly significant, which open the way for a new generation of talented specialists.
Let your favourite work, warmth of your loved ones and reliable hands of your friends be with you on this day and forever!
Let your every new day be full of victory joy and achievements!
And let your material well-being and all those benefits that money cannot buy be your permanent life companions!
Dear Sergey Dmitrievich!
To the participants and organizers of the All-Russian Economic Meeting!
On behalf of the Committee of the Council on Agrarian and Food Policy and Environmental Management of the Federal Council, I would like to welcome the participants and organizers of the All-Russian Economic Meeting dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the International Union of Economists this year.
The development and prosperity of any state is based on a balanced economy. Social stability and people's well-being strictly depend on the ability of economists to correctly assess the situation on the market of goods and services, make an accurate forecast and properly allocate resources. The solution of socio-economic tasks promotes the increase of investment attractiveness of a country and the welfare of its population.
In this regard, the contribution of the International Union of Economists as one of the most significant scientific and practical discussion platforms of our country to the development and comprehensive discussion of proposals for the economic development of the Russian Federation is growing year by year.
On the foundation day of the oldest public organization in Europe – Free Economic Society, I would like to congratulate the professional community on the Economist's Day.
Today our fellow economists manage the activities of enterprises, work in government bodies and are engaged in science and business.
I am sure that their professionalism, commitment to work and ability to make good decisions will continue promoting the progress of the domestic industry, agricultural sector, entrepreneurship and propel the economy of the Russian Federation to the next development level.
Attn: Sergey Bodrunov, President of the Free Economic Society of Russia, President of the International Union of Economists
Dear Dr. Bodrunov,
Thank you for the invitation to take part in 6th Russian Economic Conference dedicated to the Economist Day and the 30th anniversary of the International Union of Economists.
The Federal State Statistics Service feels a special connection with the history of the Free Economic Society, founded, among other things, to study economic statistics and develop the national economy of the Russian Empire. Many prominent Russian statisticians were members of the VEO of Russia, and in 1900, under the auspices of the VEO of Russia’s statistical commission, a congress of Russian municipal statisticians was held.
Today, the VEO of Russia remains a Russian economic think tank involved in active research and public awareness campaigns. In the course of academic and applied scientific discussions, the most important economic problems faced by the modern Russia are discussed.
I congratulate all economists on their professional holiday and wish the Free Economic Society successful implementation of new projects in the interests of Russia and its residents.
Dear friends and colleagues!
In Russia, there are several holidays that we consider the most important and nationwide. Personally, I would include the Economist's Day with them. Not everyone thinks the same, but I am sure that everyone in this room and everyone who watches us remotely today agrees with me.
This year our Meeting is devoted to the sustainable socio-economic development of the country. It just historically happened that such sustainability is based in our state solely on the stable federal budget. I think that I am not the only person upset by the lack of our state’s confidence in the private initiative potential, including as regards the social and economic development. Monetary, tariff rate-setting and tax policies are the whales on which the economy stands. But Russia, if we continue the mythological metaphorization, would rather stand on a turtle.
And we are all trying to drive this turtle as best as we can. After all, that is for what we, economists, exist. I would like to congratulate all of us on the holiday and believe in new achievements of Russia in the future.
Dear participants and organizers of the Russian Economic Conference
Dear colleagues,
On behalf of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation and on my own behalf, I cordially congratulate all the guests, industry experts, and organizers of the event on their professional holiday — the international Economist Day — and the 30th anniversary of the International Union of Economists.
National economy has been and remains the main pillar of Russia’s well-being and its social and economic development largely depends on the national economy’s successes and achievements. Today we face serious socio-economic tasks and challenges, including the post-pandemic crisis, whose consequences have caused considerable damage to the entire business community and the economy as a whole, as well as the tasks of developing society within the framework of sustainable development goals.
The significant long-term support provided by the International Union of Economists to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia, as an organization actively promoting economic growth, strengthening business activity, contributing to the establishment of an infrastructure for supporting businesses, is of considerable interest from the point of view of studying the role and place of entrepreneurs in society and the economy.
It is difficult to overestimate the daily contribution that the IUE makes to promote Russia’s socio-economic progress and strengthen its global role.
On the IUE’s anniversary, I wish the International Union of Economists, the participants of the Russian Economic Conference, and industry experts success and new achievements in their fruitful and important work for the benefit of the Russian economy.
Dear participants of the 6th Russian Economic Conference,
On behalf of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia, I congratulate you on your professional holiday — the Economist Day.
The 6th Russian Economic Conference is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the International Union of Economists, which was founded to promote world economic and social progress.
Russian scientists were the initiators of the establishment of the International Union of Economists — and the idea of unification expressed by them is the mainstream of Russian national traditions. Today, the IUE is an authoritative organization that brings together scientists and practitioners from different countries and sets as its task an objective and impartial study of the global economy.
The ongoing processes of globalization, unification, digitalization clearly show the economic interdependence of the world’s nations. These processes and their outcomes indicate that we belong to the same global community, that in order to reduce the social costs of the modern world order, economists of all countries need dialogue and creative cooperation.
In 1991, when the International Union of Economists was founded, a new term — social partnership — was coined in the RSFSR Presidential Decree no. 212 dated November 15, 1991 on Social Partnership and Settlement of labor Disputes (Conflicts).
Over the past thirty years, the Russian Federation’s system of social partnership has strengthened and developed, according to international experts, into one of the most effective. Last year, the principle of social partnership adopted in the Russian Federation was officially awarded a constitutional status.
Over the past three decades, the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia, as one of the three pillars of social partnership, has applied in its work the research findings of world economic science, including publications by the members of the International Union of Economists.
Our economic partnership provides trade unions with strong arguments in defending their positions on the most important socio-economic and labor issues.
In today's fast-paced world, there are still values that must stand unchanged. In the sphere of labor, decent employment standards are such an essential building block. Trade unions are convinced that labor should be equally beneficial for both employees and employers.
The problems of securing decent employment standards, the problems of rational management of labor and compensation for labor are all reflected in the agenda of the 2021 Russian Economic Conference. Its central theme — Future Challenges: Individuals and Society — Towards Sustainable Socio-Economic Development — contains a categorical imperative: the future should be secure, socio-economic development should be sustainable, people should be employed.
I wish the participants of the 6th Russian Economic Conference successful and fruitful work for the benefit of all future workers.
Government telegram

The results of the events and research held and carried out by the International Union of Economists are in high demand in Turkmenistan when implementing various economic programs and solving the problems of developing the country's economy, its industries, individual cities and regions.
We are convinced that in the coming years, the role of international and regional economic development NGOs in the development of civil society around the world will steadily grow. This is greatly facilitated by the work done by the International Union of Economists.
Its work serves as an illustration of how scientific and practical work should be organized for the benefit of various nations and guides the development of civil society in its member nations.
We wish the IUE and all its members further success in their important work for the benefit of Russia and other global economies.
Dear friends and colleagues, dear participants of the Russian Economic Conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the International Union of Economists and the International Economist Day,
As a co-founder of the IUE, I am delighted to have this opportunity to warmly welcome you and express my deep respect to all those who have dedicated their time to economics and the development of economic cooperation between the world’s nations.
Throughout its 30 entire years, the IUE has always been guided by the understanding that creating a better world requires collaboration and joint effort. In response to the demands of the times, the IUE has viewed and developed the ideas of globalization as a positive process, while at the same time seeking to find constraints that would ensure that globalization benefits everyone and brings countries stability and sovereignty.
Today, during the Covid-19 pandemic, the world is facing enormous economic, environmental, and social challenges. To address these and to overcome the consequences of the pandemic, international cooperation is of particular importance.
The theme of this year's Conference, "Future Challenges: Individuals and Society — Towards Sustainable Socio-Economic Development," allows the Russian Economic Conference to once again act as an authoritative platform for open and constructive discussion of existing problems and ways of solving urgent problems facing the economic and social development of not only Russia, but the entire global community.
I wish all the participants of the Russian Economic Conference interesting and productive communication, new professional achievements, and success.
Attn: S.D. Bodrunov. President of the IUE, President of the VEO of Russia
Dear Dr. Bodrunov,
We have the honor to congratulate you on the 30th anniversary of the International Union of Economists. We are happy to see that the IUE’s anniversaries are traditionally attended by leading Russian and international scientists and experts, public figures and government officials, representatives of the UN, UNESCO, UNCTAD. We are very pleased that the most authoritative international organizations and the economic community in many countries emphasize the important role of the IUE in "drawing attention to development problems, as well as in promoting sustainable development goals and ensuring the well-being of society."
The Union of Economists works on major projects to improve the quality of economic education, conducts research on the urgent problems facing the world economy, and contributes to the development of integration processes between countries.
In this regard, the events that are held in different countries of the world are of great importance. Presently, the IUE brings together representatives from 48 countries around the world — prominent economists, practitioners, scientists, government officials and public figures, representatives of the business community, national and regional unions, and associations of economists. This is a great force indeed for an in-depth analysis of global and regional economic processes, improving the system of training economists through implementing the possibilities offered by information and communications technology, and with regard to the digital economy.
In 1999, the IUE was awarded the General Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC), recently renewed and extended in March 2021.
I would like to note that this event is being held in a challenging environment. The pandemic and continuing restrictions have impacted the conduct of the event. Despite this, I believe that the meeting will be useful for all its participants.
I would like to inform you that in connection with the 30th anniversary of the IUE, the Azerbaijan Union of Economists plans to hold the following events: in early November, a special meeting focused on the strategy of economic development of Azerbaijan’s regions, including those handed over by Armenia, a round table on globalization and economic security of independent nations (as illustrated by the CIS countries), a scientific conference on the role of the Zangezur Transport Corridor in the development of the Caucasian and Caspian regions.
I wish you and all the participants of the event fruitful work, creative and productive discussion, and further strengthening of our ties. We are confident that the IUE will continue to actively contribute to the involvement of the economic science in all spheres of the economy and to stronger scientific and creative ties between professional associations.
Congratulations on the IUE’s 30th anniversary!
